Zoo civic education is
not doing well enough

Have you ever seen similar warning signs in the zoo? Such problems are found in various zoos. It is shocking that until now zoos have been plagued by such basic problems.

So how far should the zoo go?

  • Civic Education
  • Genetically Diverse Collection
  • Community Engagement
  • Guest Experience
  • Conservation Mentor

The role of zoos should be as shown above, but at this stage, zoos are still struggling even with civic education, so it is necessary to investigate the reasons behind that imbalance.

Questionnaire study and research brief

SUM UP

Visitors to the zoo are younger and often come with their families.

Offline problems:
1. Not accessible:

Zoos are often remote in location.
   2. Not attractive:
After one visit to the zoo, visitors are likely to lose interest in the same old animals.

Online problems:
1. Low interaction:
One-way publics leads to visitors not following the zoo and rarely participating in activities.

Education problems: The knowledge visitors get is often limited to superficial knowledge (e.g., appearance, behavior) and does not go into the deeper knowledge (e.g., animal habits, diet).

Design Proposal

We can strengthen the entertainment aspect of zoo operations and change the bridge between zoos and city dwellers so that distance is not a limitation.
Through a more entertaining online platform, we can increase citizens' interest in the zoo and allow the zoo's civic education to better penetrate the city's residents.

So what kind of bridge do we build ?

I have selected two games and studied their business models separately, they are:

The best zoo simulation video game,

The offline linked mobile nurturing game with the most users in China,

So our design concept is ...

Low-fidelity prototype

High-fidelity prototype
